I gather it was once a great best seller and it is easy to see why. I make no claims for it as great literature, but it is a gripping and thrilling story, perhaps just a trifle over-cooked at the close. It stretches from WW2 to late 1980s via Afghanistan. It employs many of the strengths of Frederic Forsyth, eg a crisp journalistic narrative and obviously very thorough research. Mr Moss depiction of relevant aspects of communist life, his description of Soviet political and military circles, technology and operational procedures in the mid-late nineteen-eighties is very well done. This however does not become arid and does not detract from the racy and often violent plot. He certainly outscores Forsyth in most areas, his character sketches are more accomplished than Frederics ( lets face it; that can't be too difficult). He is no Le Carre but if you want a 400 page politico- military thriller to take on holiday, and have exhausted Clancy and Forsyth, then I think this is the book for you.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Book Express","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":41821273587786,"sku":"3603ae","price":6.0,"currency_code":"NZD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0618\/9101\/8826\/files\/3603ae_95719fa8-8ef3-4a96-85ff-b2753c2765a9.jpg?v=1764346354","url":"https:\/\/www.bookexpress.nz\/products\/moscow-rules-by-robert-moss-3603ae","provider":"Book Express","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
