temple-of-the-winds-by-terry-goodkind-2498v
Temple of the Winds by Terry Goodkind

October 1997 When Richard Cypher was a simple woods guide, he never dreamed he would get caught up in magic, war, and dangers so extraordinary that the fate of his entire world would hang on his actions and decisions. After he rescued Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor of the Midlands and the woman Richard would come to love, he left the forest and entered into a larger, and more perilous, world. In Wizard's First Rule, Richard and Kahlan were the last hope against the forces of Darken Rahl, who had vowed to enslave the land on behalf of the Keeper, the embodiment of evil that ruled the Underworld. Over the course of his journeys Richard learned to accept his true role, first as the Seeker and the wielder of the Sword of Truth, and then, in Stone of Tears, as the new Lord Rahl and the war wizard who led the fight against the Keeper and his dark minions. Richard managed to seal the Keeper in the Underworld and, in Blood of the Fold, defended the Midlands from the genocidal armies of the Blood of the Fold. Yet a greater threat remains. In Temple of the Winds, the fourth book in the Sword of Truth series, everything Richard has learned thus far, all the wisdom, the magic, and the conviction he holds, will be for naught as the megalomaniacal Emperor Jagang returns with his multitude of demonic underlings to infect the world with a demonic plague. To find a cure, Richard and Kahlan must seek out the legendary Temple of the Winds. But the path of the Seeker of Truth is never an easy one: The Temple was banished into oblivion more than 3,000 years ago. If Richard can reach the Temple at all, there is no guarantee he'll ever return. Editorial Reviews Terry Goodkind once again demonstrates that fantasy writing works as a vehicle for exploring adult themes. While employing all of the action and magic typical of the genre, he incorporates a rare sense of realism. Characters laugh, make love and die unexpectedly and brutally. - San Diego Union Tribune Another independently intelligible doorstopper addition to Goodkind's Sword of Truth series (Blood of the Fold, 1996, etc.). This time, sword-wielder and wizard Richard Rahl, his warrior beloved Kahlan, grandfather Zedd, and the rest of the cast are threatened by the Imperial Order and their dream walker, Jagang, who sends a wizard-assassin, Marlin, to kill Richard. Meanwhile, old flame Nadine, befuddled by a witch, shows up intending to marry Richard; close behind comes the healer Drefan, Richard's half- brother. Marlin/Jagang announces gleefully that he's caught Richard in a bound fork prophesy, a fancy way of saying heads I win, tails you lose. Another one for the fans. - Kirkus Reviews Goodkind has the extraordinary ability to imbue rousing fantasy adventure with a rare emotional depth, once again exploring the power of love and forgiveness in a tour de force of mesmerizing storytelling. -RT Book Reviews - From the Publisher

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0618/9101/8826/files/2498v_1eb8f6d4-a29b-4244-ae49-b0cc4be5e625.jpg?v=1764460110
